I'm currently teaching 8th grade Spanish. I have taught all levels of Spanish, from kindergarten to high school, at various times in the past 17 years. I have a BA in Spanish and International Relations from Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, IL, and an MA in Spanish Language and Culture from the University of Salamanca in Salamanca, Spain. My shop includes all types of resources for Spanish and French, as well as materials for English Language Arts and ELL.

Spanish Food Groupings - 24 Words with 6 Categories - Students write the English translation next to each Spanish word and then write each word in one of the categories. The categories are fruits, vegetables, meat/fish/protein, grains, meals and beverages. The words to classify are common foods, plus breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack. There are also 10 clip art images for students to identify. The answer key is included.

Spanish Ir A + Infinitive Human Bingo Game Speaking Activity - Each student mingles with a bingo grid and must find different classmates that can reply yes to each of the 16 boxes. The grids contain school related questions such as, "Vas a montar en bici a la escuela?" or "Vas a hacer las tareas en la clase de español?" When a student replies yes to a question, the questioning student follows up by asking in Spanish for the student's signature. When a student fills the entire grid, he shouts, "Bingo!" Also included is a follow up worksheet that requires students to write a sentence for each of the 16 boxes in the grid. The student includes the name of the student that signed the box and must change the verb to the third person. Students must also write the conjugation for ir a infinitive under 6 images at the bottom of the paper. This is a great back to school review activity for students with prior Spanish experience.

This activity uses common Spanish verbs associated with spring break. Students will practice 3 forms of each verb in the preterit for asking, responding, and the follow-up written activity. Each student mingles with a bingo grid and must find different classmates that can reply yes when asked about statements in each of the 16 boxes. A sample statement is, "Viajé en avión con mi familia." When a student replies yes to a question, the questioning student follows up by asking in Spanish for the student's signature. The goal is to be the first student to fill the entire bingo grid. Also included is a follow up worksheet that requires students to: 1. Write a sentence for each of the 16 boxes in the grid. The student includes the name of the student that signed the box and must change the verbs to the third person. Some will require students to use the possessive de. 2. Write an appropriate Spanish infinitive verb under 6 images at the bottom of the paper. This is a fun way for students to share what they did during their spring vacations while reviewing preterit verb conjugations.

Spanish Irregular Verbs PowerPoint Booklet Project - Students create a booklet or PowerPoint that includes irregular present tense verbs. Required sections are: -go verbs; stem change verbs; a section for ir, ir a + infinitive, ser and estar, saber and conocer; regular verbs for the sake of showing contrast between regular and irregular verbs. Students must provide full conjugations of all verbs, write 2 sentences for each, and explain the differences between ser and estar, and saber and conocer. Included in the download: 1. Requirement page in large font for projecting and presenting the project. 2. Sample page for projecting and presenting. 3. Grading sheet for the 205 point project. Students use the sheet while working on the project and must hand it in with their completed projects. Failure to submit the sheet results in a loss of 2 points on the project.
